Free Cerved report: what you can see without paying, and what you cannot

In short: no, a Cerved report on any company is not free: on Credit Direct you register and buy the document. For free you find specimens of the reports, the list of ratings of Cerved Rating Agency and Powerbiz's Free plan, with a traffic light limited to your tax drawer. Official sources and Veryfy's free anti-scam check also remain available.

Is there a free Cerved report?

No, if by report you mean the document with score, credit line and negative records on a company of your choice. We checked this on the public pages of Credit Direct, the channel through which Cerved sells reports and documents online, consulted on 1 November 2026:

• to use the platform you have to register: all the buttons (“Registrati ora” (Register now), “Prova Credit Direct” (Try Credit Direct)) lead to the registration page;
• reports are bought one by one. The “la Piattaforma” page says: “You can select and buy only the documents of interest to you”, with payment by PayPal, bank transfer or credit card;
• the public pages do not show prices. The real price is the one you see on the platform after registration.

The only public price list we found is a document from May 2018: Basic Note 40€, Entry Report 65€, Standard Report 95€, VAT excluded. These are prices from eight years ago, useful only as an order of magnitude: you can find them explained in the guide how much a single Cerved report costs. What Cerved says it includes in the three reports on Italian companies:

What Cerved offers for free

Something free exists, with precise limits. Here is what we found on 1 November 2026.

Specimens of the reports

On the Credit Direct page on reports for companies, each report has a “fac-simile” (specimen) link to browse or download. It is an example of layout: it helps you understand what the document will contain, but it holds no data on the company you are interested in.

Powerbiz's Free plan

Powerbiz is Cerved's solution for small businesses (on the cerved.com site it appears as the “Small Business” entry). The Powerbiz prices page lists a Free plan, “Gratis per sempre” (free forever), which includes unlimited company searches, company profiles with registry information and the credit-reliability traffic light, “limited to some customers/suppliers present in your tax drawer”. In practice the traffic light concerns companies with which you have already exchanged invoices, not a new potential client. The same page offers a 15-day free trial of the Full plan (“No credit card required”), after which you can carry on with the Free version; the specific Fido Certificato and the 12-month forward-looking reliability are listed in the Full plan, which is paid.

The list of Cerved Rating Agency ratings

Cerved Rating Agency publishes on its site, in the “Credit Rating Actions” section, the list of assigned ratings, with company name, VAT number and date of the latest update, and a search by name or VAT number. We consulted it without registration. However, you only find companies to which the agency has assigned a rating: if the company you are looking for is not there, this says nothing about its reliability. A rating, as Cerved itself explains, is not a score: the score is an automatic analysis based on statistical models, while the rating adds the assessment of analysts who collect data from the company.

Free Cerved company search: how things stand

Those who search for “visura Cerved gratis” usually want the company search (visura camerale). The company search is an official document of the Companies Register: Credit Direct resells it among its official documents, but the source is the Chamber of Commerce. The registroimprese.it site says two useful things:

• if you are the owner or legal representative, you get the company search and financial statements of your company for free from impresa italia, with SPID or CNS;
• for an other company the search is paid: for a joint-stock company the ordinary company search is priced at 5.00€, an amount that corresponds to the minimum registry fees set by decree.

A free company search of another company, from an official source, therefore does not exist. If you need to know who controls a company, see beneficial owner of an S.r.l., free or paid.

Official free alternatives

Some checks you can do for free from public sources:

• Agenzia delle Entrate VAT number check: enter the VAT number and a security code and see whether it is active, suspended or ceased, the company name, the start date of activity and any dates of suspension or cessation;
• European Commission VIES: says whether the VAT number is valid for trade within the European Union. The Commission describes it as “a search engine (not a database)”;
• Free company search on registroimprese.it: you search by province and company name;
• Bank of Italy's Centrale dei rischi: access to the data is free, but only for the person concerned. It shows how banks see you, not how to check a client.

Veryfy's free anti-scam check

The check is not a reliability report: it tells you whether the person writing to you really is the company it says it is. You create a free account with your email (you receive a sign-in link, no password, no card) and enter a VAT number and, if you have them, the email or website and the IBAN you were sent. The check verifies:

• whether the VAT number is in the European VIES register, and under which name;
• whether the email is disposable or a free webmail address instead of the company's domain;
• the age of the domain and whether it is reported for malware or phishing;
• whether the domain is protected against forged emails (SPF and DMARC);
• whether the VAT number appears on the domain's website;
• whether the website has suffered known data breaches (Have I Been Pwned);
• whether the IBAN is written correctly and belongs to a consistent country.

The result is signals, never certainty that something is or is not a fraud. And it contains no rating, credit line, protests, financial statements or shareholders: for those you need a report.

When paying for a report is really necessary

The free sources are enough to know whether the company exists and whether its contact details are consistent. They are not enough when you have to decide how much credit to grant, for a payment term or an important supply: you need a risk assessment, a credit line and protests, which none of the free sources seen above gives you for an arbitrary company.

The estimated credit line is an estimate, not a guarantee that the client will pay. A warning: Veryfy reports do not show whether the company is active, ceased or in liquidation.
