Chamber of commerce extract (visura camerale) or solvency report: what you find in one and only in the other
Updated to
In brief: an ordinary chamber of commerce extract for a limited company costs €5 online (€7 at the chamber counter) and tells you who the company is: registry details, registered office, capital, directors, members with their shares, registered proceedings. It does not contain an estimated credit line, protests, payment behaviour or an already reconstructed beneficial owner. It is enough for a registry check; for credit risk you need something else.
What does an ordinary chamber of commerce extract contain?
The ordinary extract is an excerpt from the Registro Imprese (Business Register), the public register kept by the Chambers of Commerce, with the data declared and registered by the company. For a limited company, according to the guide of the Riviere di Liguria Chamber of Commerce of 1st July 2026, it is made up of these blocks:
- information from the articles of association and share capital;
- registered offices and local units;
- insolvency proceedings, dissolutions and cancellation;
- directors, statutory auditors and members of the supervisory body, holders of other offices;
- members and holders of rights over shares and quotas;
- transfers of business branches, mergers, demergers, successions;
- activities, professional registers, roles and licences.
The content changes with the legal form: for partnerships and sole proprietorships the blocks are different. And the document reports what is registered, not an assessment of the company's solidity.
How much does a chamber of commerce extract cost, and where is it requested?
For a limited company, the registry fees in Table A of the decree of 20 April 2023 (Gazzetta Ufficiale no. 149 of 28 June 2023) are €5 for the ordinary extract online and €7 at the chamber counter. It can be obtained on registroimprese.it, even without registering, paying by credit card.
| Document | Online (electronic counter) | Chamber counter |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary extract, limited company | €5.00 | €7.00 |
| Ordinary extract, partnership | €3.50 | €4.50 |
| Ordinary extract, sole proprietorship | €3.00 | €4.00 |
| Historical extract, limited company | €6.00 | €8.00 |
| File, limited company (includes the last filed financial statements) | €10.00 | €13.00 |
These are the registry fees set by law: the individual blocks are paid separately (from €1 online for directors or registered office, €2 for members, shareholdings and parent companies). The portal shows the cost before confirmation, and that is the amount to consider, since rates may be updated. The Chambers publish amounts consistent with the table: the Pistoia-Prato Chamber of Commerce indicates €7 for the ordinary extract and €8 for the historical one at the counter (page updated in January 2026).
What is not in a chamber of commerce extract?
The data that originates outside the Registro Imprese or that requires a calculation are not there: protests, credit line, payment behaviour, real estate, an already identified beneficial owner. The extract gives you the registry raw material, not a judgement on risk.
- Estimated operating credit line and rating: these are not blocks of the Registro Imprese. They are estimates calculated on financial statements and payment history data.
- Protests: they are held in the Registro Protesti (Protests Register), a different service. How to request them and what they cost: protest and adverse-entry search for a company.
- Financial statements: not in the ordinary extract. The last filed financial statements appear in the file; financial statements are obtained as separate documents. There is no reading of the figures.
- Beneficial owner: it is not an already labelled field. You have members and shareholdings, and you apply the three-level criterion yourself, repeating the extract on intermediate companies: see beneficial owner of an SRL, free or paid. The register of beneficial owners, for third parties, is suspended in October 2026.
- Company relationships: parent companies and shareholdings in other companies are not part of the ordinary extract. They are separate blocks, paid (€2 each online), like the person cards.
- Real estate: it comes from the Land Registry (Catasto), not from the Registro Imprese.
- Payment behaviour: it is not data from the Registro Imprese.
A clarification to avoid mistakes: insolvency proceedings registered in the Registro Imprese are in the extract. What is missing is the rest of the negative picture, that is, the protests.
Chamber of commerce extract or Veryfy report: what do you find in one and in the other?
The extract answers “who is this company and how is it written in the register”; the report also answers “how much can I expose myself to and what signals are there”. The comparison, item by item:
| Item | Ordinary extract | Verifica report (€19) |
|---|---|---|
| Full company details: registered office, corporate purpose, share capital, articles | Yes | No, only name, VAT number and incorporation date: for registered office and corporate purpose the extract is needed |
| Directors | Yes | Yes (relevant members and directors, with role) |
| Members and shareholdings | Yes | Yes, in the effective control tree |
| Registered insolvency proceedings | Yes | Yes, as a signal |
| Protests | No (Registro Protesti) | Yes, with amount, date and source |
| Beneficial owner | To be reconstructed | Reconstructed from the Registro Imprese |
| Estimated operating credit line | No | Yes, always indicated as an estimate |
| Payment behaviour | No | Yes, if the data exists |
| Last filed financial statements | In the file (€10 online) | Date and net equity in the overview; reclassified in Decisione |
| Real estate and company relationships | No (relationships: separate blocks) | Decisione, €49 |
| Cost | €5 online (limited company) | €19, single payment |
When is a chamber of commerce extract enough?
It is enough when you need to establish the identity and formal regularity of a company, not its credit risk. In that case €5 and a few minutes are the right choice, and nothing else is needed.
- You check that the company exists, is active, and that the person you are speaking with is really the director.
- You verify registered office, corporate purpose and capital before a contract with no advance payments or deferrals.
- You already know the counterparty and are looking only for a formal detail, for example the composition of the members.
- The structure is simple: few members, natural persons, no chain.
When is the report needed?
It is needed when you grant credit or pay money before receiving something: deposit, deferral, ongoing supply. The extract shows how the company is composed, not whether it can sustain the amount you are about to expose.
- You are about to grant a payment deferral or invoice an amount that matters to you.
- You pay a deposit to a supplier: see how to check the solvency of a supplier.
- The customer is new, with no payment history.
- You want an exposure ceiling to compare with the figure at stake.
- Behind the company there are other companies and you want to understand who really controls it.
Doing everything yourself is also possible: extract, protest search, financial statements, reconstruction of the beneficial owner. These are more documents, more steps and the work of putting the pieces together; the report does it for you in a single purchase. The two tools, however, complement each other: the extract is the primary source for formal data, the report for signals. The guide on pay-per-report or subscription helps you choose the channel.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a chamber of commerce extract for a company cost?
According to Table A of the registry fees (decree of 20 April 2023), the ordinary extract for a limited company costs €5 online and €7 at the chamber of commerce counter; €3.50 online for partnerships and €3 for sole proprietorships. Before paying, the registroimprese.it portal shows the updated amount.
Does the chamber of commerce extract show a company's protests?
No. Protests are held in the Registro Protesti (Protests Register), a separate service of the Chambers of Commerce. The extract, on the other hand, shows the insolvency proceedings registered in the Registro Imprese. To see both in a single step, Veryfy offers Negatività e procedure concorsuali (negative events and insolvency proceedings) at €5.90.
Does the chamber of commerce extract tell me who the beneficial owner is?
Not as a ready field. It shows members, shareholdings and directors; you derive the beneficial owner by applying the three-level criterion, repeating the extract on the intermediate companies. The Veryfy report reconstructs it from the Registro Imprese; the register of beneficial owners is not consultable by third parties as of October 2026.
Does the chamber of commerce extract tell me whether a customer will pay?
No. It contains data registered in the Registro Imprese, not a solvency estimate. The estimated operating credit line, payment behaviour and protests are not in the extract. The Verifica report (€19) adds them, with the credit line always indicated as an estimate.
When is a chamber of commerce extract enough, and when is a solvency report needed?
It is enough to verify identity, registered office, capital, directors and members, or when there is no credit or advance payment. The report is needed if you grant a payment deferral, receive a deposit or work with a new customer, because it adds the estimated credit line, protests and the reconstructed beneficial owner.
