Example of a business reliability report: how to read it, section by section
Updated to
In brief: the Veryfy report opens with a figure, the estimated operating credit line, compared with the exposure you declared, and continues with payment to suppliers, warning signals and effective control. Sections range from five to nine depending on the tier (from €19). Here you can read it section by section, on a sample PDF of a fictitious company.
What does a Veryfy business reliability report look like?
It is a PDF document (and a web page) with numbered sections in a fixed order: first the figure needed for the decision, then the details that explain it. Some sections appear only in the tiers that include them, or when the company actually has that data.
| Section | What it shows | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum recommended exposure | Estimated operating credit line and comparison with your exposure | All tiers |
| Overview | Visual summary: age, signals, ownership structure, key figures | All tiers |
| Payment behaviour | Average days the company takes to pay suppliers, if the data exists | All tiers |
| Warning signals | Public events detected, sorted by severity | All tiers |
| Effective control | Tree of shareholders and directors, with a card for each | All tiers |
| Foreign shareholder companies | Shareholders that are foreign companies, with the limits of the sources | Only if present in the chain |
| Registered real estate | Buildings and land from the cadastral source | Decisione and Istruttoria |
| Reclassified financial statements | Main items of the filed financial statements | Decisione and Istruttoria |
In the Istruttoria tier (€99) a ninth section is added, with the application of risk algorithms developed by expert risk managers. At the end you always find the list of sources consulted, the document code, the generation date and the number of checks carried out.
Which company appears in the example, and is it real?
No: the sample PDF describes Manifattura Esempio S.r.l., a fictitious company, with editorial data generated by the same engine that produces the real reports. No figure mentioned on this page concerns a real company: they are sample values, identified as such.
The example is in the most complete version (Istruttoria), so it also shows the sections that are not in the Verifica tier.
How do you read the traffic light and the estimated operating credit line?
Before the report, you declare how much you are about to expose yourself and why. The report compares that figure with the estimated operating credit line, that is the exposure which balance sheet and payment history data indicate as sustainable. It is an estimate based on historical data, not a forecast.
- Green, exposure within the credit line: the declared figure falls comfortably within it, up to 80% of the credit line.
- Yellow, at the limit: the figure is between 80% and 100% of the credit line. The report suggests tools such as a payment on account or split deliveries.
- Red, above the credit line: the figure exceeds the credit line, and the report states by how much. Tools to consider: surety bond, personal guarantee, advance payment, trade credit insurance.
- Credit line not available: for some companies it cannot be calculated, and the report says so instead of inventing a figure.
In the sample PDF, an estimated credit line of €93,000 against €80,000 declared gives “At the limit”: 80,000 is about 86% of 93,000. The traffic light never says “don't work with them”: it compares two numbers, and the decision remains yours. For the rating, see business credit rating.
What are the warning signals, and how are they ordered?
They are public facts detected by fixed rules, each with source and date, sorted by severity: high, medium, informational. The report expresses no judgement on the company; it indicates how many signals it presents. The engine has 13 rules, and the report states how many it was able to evaluate.
- High: protests, insolvency proceedings against the company, net equity below two thirds of share capital, share capital below the legal minimum, negative net equity.
- Medium: involvement of a third party in a proceeding, last filed financial statements more than 18 months old, payment to suppliers over 60 days, financial ratios in the Q1 quintile of the sector, risk score worsened in the last 12 months, share capital small compared with the declared exposure.
- Info: company incorporated less than 12 months ago, administrative office recently recorded.
If no rule is triggered, the report does not stay empty: it states how many checks were carried out and that none of them detected a signal. In the example the checks are 14 and the signals 4 (1 high, 2 medium, 1 info). The meaning of the terms is in the guide on protests, adverse entries and insolvency proceedings.
How do you read effective control, that is, who really controls the company?
It is a tree with the company at the top and, below it, relevant shareholders and directors, each with role and share. If a shareholder is in turn a company, the chain is traced up to three levels, and each share is referred to its direct parent, never multiplied or deduced along the chain.
Below the tree there is a card for each shareholder or director: protests and proceedings with source and date, and in the Decisione and Istruttoria tiers also registered real estate and offices held in other companies. The beneficial owner is reconstructed from the company register data of the Registro Imprese, not read from the register of beneficial owners, whose consultation by third parties has been suspended since October 2026: the details are in the guide register of beneficial owners. If a share is held by a trust company (fiduciaria), the trust company appears. The criterion is explained in how to check who really controls a company.
If a shareholder is a foreign company, the dedicated section states what we have (registry details, sector, historical financial statements from the country's register) and what we do not: the shareholding of foreign companies is not in the sources, and this does not mean that it has no shareholders.
What does a business reliability report not say?
It does not say whether a customer will pay, it does not judge the company and it does not replace the advice of a professional. It captures public data as of the date indicated: a fact that occurred after that date is not there.
- The operating credit line is an estimate, neither a certainty nor a forecast.
- It does not show the adverse entries at the Conservatoria (mortgages, seizures): for those you need a mortgage inspection, see the guide on protest and adverse-entry searches for a company.
- Real estate is an asset fact from a cadastral source: the report does not say whether it can be seized.
- If a data point does not exist, the field remains absent or is declared unavailable: no plausible value is filled in its place.
Which tier to choose: Verifica at €19 or Decisione at €49?
The Verifica tier (€19) covers the first five sections: exposure, overview, payment, signals and effective control, with beneficial owner and protests. The Decisione tier (€49) adds registered real estate, corporate relationships (with whom the company is connected) and reclassified financial statements.
For an invoice or an ordinary payment plan, Verifica is usually enough. Decisione is needed when the amount at stake is high and you want to know what assets stand behind it and how the accounts are made up. If you only need a quick check, the micro-products start from €5.90 (protests and insolvency proceedings). Price comparison: how much a complete business solvency report costs.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a sample business reliability report to look at before buying?
Yes: Veryfy publishes a 4-page sample PDF, generated by the same engine as the real reports. It concerns Manifattura Esempio S.r.l., a fictitious company, in the most complete version (Istruttoria). On the homepage you will find the same format on another fictitious company.
How many sections does the Veryfy report have?
Up to eight numbered sections: exposure, overview, payment, warning signals, effective control, foreign shareholder companies, registered real estate and reclassified financial statements. Verifica has five, plus the foreign shareholder companies if present; Decisione adds real estate and financial statements; Istruttoria adds a ninth section with the application of risk algorithms developed by expert risk managers.
How do I read the estimated operating credit line in a report?
It is an estimate of sustainable exposure, calculated on the historical data available: not a forecast. The report compares it with your declared exposure: within 80% it falls inside the line, between 80% and 100% it is at the limit, above 100% it exceeds the credit line. If it cannot be calculated, the report says so.
Does a report with no warning signals mean the company is safe?
No. It means that none of the rules evaluated detected a relevant public fact, and the report states how many checks were carried out. It is not a guarantee of future behaviour: the data are the public data as of the report date and do not cover, for example, adverse entries at the Conservatoria (Land Registry).
Does the report show the beneficial owner?
Yes, in the effective control section, in all tiers: a tree of relevant shareholders and directors with their shares, reconstructed from the Registro Imprese (Italian Business Register) up to three levels of ownership. It is not the data declared to the register of beneficial owners, and behind a trust company (fiduciaria) the trust company itself appears.
